If I can’t figure out what the fish are eating and see no action I will go to a streamer. I fish these with intermediate sink line and a 7.5′ leader. The intermediate sink line gets the streamer down to the fish. If you are fishing nymphs use a floating line with split shot on the leader. You will need a strike indicator as well.
Check out the rivers flow and see if you can see any seams. Look for bubbles or a small debris path on the surface. Fish will hold just outside the current.
